SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST (Statistics)

The Position
We are looking to hire a Senior Data Scientist. This individual will join a dynamic team responsible for start-to-finish work on the analysis and interpretation of Olaris' metabolomics platform. We are looking for someone who thrives working in a fast-paced, exciting, and collaborative environment in one of the most cutting-edge industries where statistics, machine learning, and AI meet medicine. In addition to data science activities, you will help leading projects, defining future strategies, and supporting the continuous development of our analytics platform. This is a hands-on position, and it is expected you will collaborate with our research scientists to carry out analysis projects and synthesize these results into meaningful reports for clients and product development.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with internal research teams and external partners in the full research process, including study design, analyses, presentations, and publication

Provide end-to-end statistical support in the development of Olaris products
-
Clearly communicate highly technical methods and results to non-technical audiences
-
Troubleshoot with partners and internal stakeholders to refine and optimize models
-
Generate scientific communications to peer-reviewed journals and publications
-
Develop algorithms to process clinical and molecular datasets, creating the analytic files necessary to support analyses.

Generate predictive models using both proprietary and off-the-shelf tools.
Qualifications
-
Ph.D. in statistics, applied math, computational biology or equivalent with 0-2 years of experience, or MS in a related field with 5+ years of experience

Experience in working with biological data
-
Proven ability to independently design and deploy a full-stack data analytics project, including EDA, ETL, modeling, and reporting

Demonstrated excellence in working with programming language R

Proficiency in Python is a plus
-
Hands-on experience in database creation/mining

Experience in working with NMR or MS data for metabolomics is a plus
-
Working experience in Azure is a plus
-
Ability to efficiently work on multiple projects

Strong written and verbal communication; and ability to communicate technical material to non-technical audiences simply and clearly

DATA SCIENTIST
If you like diving into data, love R, have used statistical and machine learning techniques to find new insights into complex biological problems, and are passionate about having a profound impact on the future of medicine, we want to meet you.
The Position
As a member of the Data Science team, you will:

Perform statistical data analysis, machine learning, data mining, and optimizations using multiple tools and techniques to get insights from large complex data sets

Conduct hands-on rigorous quantitative analysis, including collecting and cleaning the data, and exploring it for accuracy

Deploy statistical modeling and optimization techniques most suited for the biological problem using R
-
Make recommendations and modifications to the analysis
-
Interpret outputs of statistical models and results in order to translate input from quantitative analyses into specific and actionable implications

Requirements:

Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Mathematics or related fields

2-5 years related experience in analyzing data, visualizing complex datasets, and developing and testing predictive models

Deep understanding of multivariate statistics, machine learning, and other analytical methods

Experience in working with large sets of biomedical data and gaining biological insight from statistical analysis

SCIENTIST-BIOLOGY/BIOCHEMISTRY
If your idea of fun includes figuring out enzyme mechanisms, signaling cascades, feedback loops, and performing network mapping and metabolite pathway analysis and you are passionate about having a profound impact on the future of medicine- than we want to meet you. Olaris is looking for high-performing and outgoing individuals to join our team.
The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for a broad range of research activities including analyzing metabolomics data, network mapping, and designing and developing methods to delineate mechanisms of disease resistance. You will work directly with the computational team to determine the biological relevance for data mining and biomarker discovery. You will be responsible for maintaining a proper lab notebook. You will be expected to publish and present our work at conferences.
The position level will depend on the level of experience in the relevant areas.
Requirements:

M.S. or Ph.D. Degree in Biological Sciences, Chemical Biology, Biophysics, or related field

Experience with cancer metabolism and/or immune-metabolism

Familiar with various omics technologies (transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics and metabolomics)
