DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

The Position

We are looking to hire a full-time Director of Business Development. This individual will have a broad range of responsibilities including building trusted relationships with senior biopharmaceutical R&D executives, and identification, scoping and aiding in the negotiation of large strategic deals. The successful candidate will actively contribute to Olaris’ short-term and long-term growth trajectory goals.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize potential BD opportunities

  • Lead diligence of BD deals, including client management, negotiating, and communicating the value proposition of Olaris’ technology resulting in multiyear, multimillion-dollar deals

  • Collaborate with Olaris’ R&D team to prioritize collaborations from disease areas of interest

  • Work closely with scientific leadership to define the research plan, aligning with client objectives and attainable samples/data

  • Drive decision-making through the deal process, making presentations and recommendations to the client team and Olaris senior management

  • Develop and recommend proposed deal structures and financial terms

  • Work closely with Olaris Legal, Finance and Commercial Leadership

  • Present regularly as a speaker or panel chair at external meetings, thus furthering the reputation of Olaris in the precision medicine arena

  • Prepare and present quarterly business review

 


Qualifications

  • MD or PhD degree in a science-related field plus experience in either oncology or precision medicine, MBA preferred

  • 2+ years of experience in pharmaceutical business development, conducting asset evaluations, licensing opportunities; deal sheet documenting closed BD deals a plus

  • Understanding of the drug development process, especially regarding opportunities for differentiation and value demonstration

  • Strong commercial instincts and fluency with business analytics and valuation methodologies

  • Previous experience navigating complex, matrixed organizations from outside

  • Strong executive presence

  • Energetic, result-driven, self-starter, collaborative mindset, and ability to think strategically and analytically

  • Adept at achieving results through cross-functional collaboration within and across organizations

SENIOR BIOANALYTICAL SCIENTIST

Are you an expert in analytical chemistry and LC-MS method development/validation? Does harnessing the potential of metabolomics to transform disease diagnosis and treatment intrigue you? If so, we want to meet you.  

 

The Position

We are looking to hire a Senior Bioanalytical Scientist.  The successful candidate will lead LC-MS/MS method development/validation efforts for small molecule identification and quantification in addition to building large libraries for semi-quantification and targeted panels for absolute quantification, supporting metabolomics and lipidomics studies.

 

 This is a full-time position with a competitive benefits package.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate highly sensitive and reliable LC-MS/MS methods for the rapid and accurate quantification of metabolites from biological samples

  • Design and execute experiments in support of LC-MS method development and optimization

  • Analyze, interpret, and present study results and conclusions in project meetings

  • Contribute innovative approaches to pushing the limits of our analyses

  • Propose actionable connections between results of metabolomic analyses and biological pathways

  • Publish and present findings to external audiences

Qualifications

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Toxicology, or equivalent

  • 3-5 years of Mass Spectrometry Method Development and validation experience

  • Experience working with (U)HPLC and Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometers

  • Demonstrated excellence leading successful projects to completion

  • Strong written and verbal communication; an ability to communicate technical material to non-technical audiences simply and clearly and collaborate well on a team

  • Intense drive for problem solving, especially around analyzing and identifying key molecules in multi-component biological samples

  • In depth understanding of separation sciences in modern analytical technologies (HPLC, MS, spectroscopies, automation)

  • Knowledgeable in the isolation of small molecules and lipids from biological fluids

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in LC-MS/MS Method Development and validation

  • Experience with various instrumentation data analysis software packages

NMR TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

Are you an expert in analytical chemistry and method development? Does harnessing the potential of metabolomics to transform disease diagnosis and treatment intrigue you? If so, we want to meet you.  

 

The Position 

We are looking to hire an NMR Technical Development Scientist.  The successful candidate will lead NMR method development for complex mixture analysis and small molecule identification and quantification. Additionally, they will be capable of applying advanced multi-dimensional NMR methods such as non-uniform sampling techniques and writing custom pulse sequences.   

 

 This is a full-time position with a competitive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate highly sensitive and reproducible NMR methods for the rapid and accurate quantification of metabolites from biological samples

  • Create customized NMR parameter sets and pulse sequences

  • Highly skilled with NMRPipe and related software

  • Expertise in optimizing NMR parameters, writing or modifying pulse sequences and analyzing NMR data is required

  • Demonstrated excellence leading successful projects to completion

  • Strong written and verbal communication; an ability to communicate technical material to non-technical audiences simply and clearly and collaborate well on a team

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

The Position

Olaris is looking for an individual to join a team responsible for the start-to-finish work on the analysis and interpretation of Olaris' metabolomics platform. This candidate will be responsible for the full-stack implementation of Olaris data analytics pipelines, as well as support the refactoring of currently deployed pipelines.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Back/Front-end developer for ETL, RPA, data analytics, and visualization processes  

  • Refactoring of existing codes aiming accessibility, simplification, runtime optimization and automation

  • Implement backend databases to support data management and access

  • Define and implement DevOps best practices

  • Continuously evaluate and, when applicable, deploy novel technologies

  • Develop API-based solutions to allow a seamlessly integration with external tools and repositories

  • Clearly communicate highly technical deliverables and technologies to non-technical audiences

 


Qualifications

  • Computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics or related field with 3+ years of experience, or MS in related field with 1+ years of experience.

  • Demonstrated excellence in working with programming language R

  • Experiencing in creating and managing R-libraries is a plus.

  • Experience with Data Science front-end technologies

  • Working familiarity with Python

  • Proficiency in working in a UNIX environment

  • Proven ability to independently develop a full stack data analytics project

  • Hands-on experience in relational/non-relational databases

  • Working experience with Azure is a plus

  • Ability to efficiently work in multiple projects

DATA ENGINEER

The Position

Olaris is looking for an individual to join a team responsible for the analysis and interpretation of Olaris' metabolomics platform. This candidate will be responsible for the start-to-end design, implementation, and management of Olaris data infrastructure and ETL pipelines, as well as support the definition of future strategies and continuous development of our data analytics platform. This is a hands-on position, and the candidate is expected to collaborate with our research scientists, leadership team and external partners.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions for the acquisition, evaluation, processing, and analysis of clinical and molecular data obtained internally or from external partners

  • Process and integrate various data types into harmonized and actionable data sets

  • Design, deploy and manage solutions that support F.A.I.R. data standards

  • Develop API-based processes to allow a seamlessly integration with external repositories

  • Work close with the lab teams in the analysis and validation of Olaris NMR and MS outputs

  • Work close with the data science team in the processing and integration of molecular and clinical data

  • Troubleshoot with partners and internal stakeholders to refine and optimize data models

  • Continuously evaluate and, when applicable, deploy novel technologies to further structure Olaris’ data IP

  • Clearly communicate highly technical information and technologies to non-technical audiences

  • Generate scientific communications to peer-reviewed journals and publications

 


Qualifications

  • Computer sciences, bioinformatics or related field with 4+ years of experience, or MS in related field with 2+ years of experience.

  • Proven ability to independently design and deploy a full stack data processing pipeline, including EDA, ETL, visualization and reporting. 

  • Working proficiency with programming language R, as well as its integration with databases and external repositories

  • Working familiarity with Python is a plus

  • Demonstrated excellence in working with relational/non-relational databases

METABOLITE SCIENTIST

The Position 

Olaris is looking for high-performing and outgoing metabolite scientists to join our Biomarker Discovery team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples from a variety of materials for metabolomics research

  • Knowledge of NMR theory, pulse programs and data analysis including 1D, 2D and 3D experiments

  • Familiarity with statistics and bioinformatics tools in metabolomics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Rational experimental design for metabolite characterization and structural elucidation  

  • Wet-lab techniques of handling biological samples including human biofluids, natural product, and bacterial cultures

  • Hands-on with NMRPipe, Chenomix, MNova and processing NUS data

ASSOCIATE LAB MANAGER

Does being part of a team harnessing the potential of metabolomics to transform disease diagnosis and treatment intrigue you? If so, we want to meet you. 

The Position

We are looking to hire an Associate Lab Manager to play a critical role in enabling the research and development of novel diagnostic products. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing the efficiency and productivity of the laboratories. They must be collaborative, organized, and capable of handling a variety of tasks. A strong focus on safety is a must.  

 

This is a full-time position with a competitive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all laboratory spaces, ensuring proper safety processes are in place

  • Manage sample inventory & cold storage, including freezer alarm system

  • Learns and leads accessioning of all samples in the Olaris laboratory – including Olaris owned, as well as client owned, clinical trial specimens, and CLIA samples. Accessioning includes:

    • Sample receipt

    • QC of physical samples

    • Accessioning into LIMS

    • Barcoding

    • Initial storage

  • Become an administrator of LIMS. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Accurately assigning all samples to proper workflows in the LIMS

    • Setting up projects in collaboration with Lead Scientists

    • Training of new laboratory members and supporting current members with questions and trouble shooting

    • Supporting design of new workflows and improvements to the LIMS

    • Communication with LIMS provider

  • Maintains laboratory supplies inventory, including procurement prior to reagent depletion and verification of delivery.

  • Assists in running the inventory system for the lab

  • Liaise with vendors to procure needed lab materials

  • Oversee lab equipment, perform general maintenance and troubleshooting, manage vendor visits for repairs, minimize equipment downtime

  • Provide equipment training and safety guidance to research scientists

  • Author laboratory SOP’s

  • Implement workflow improvements to maximize laboratory productivity

  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to all appropriate safety regulations and performing and tracking safety training of lab members.

  • Some assistance with wet lab activities (prepping samples, buffers, etc) will occur from time to time.

  • Additional duties will include data management, MTAs and other lab compliance responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or equivalent

  • 2-4 years of laboratory operations experience

  • Experience with various laboratory instrumentation

  • Experience working with sample inventory software

  • Scientifically curious

  • Intense drive for problem solving
