What You’ll Lead & Build

1. Enterprise Data Architecture:

  • Build Olaris’ end-to-end data ecosystem spanning sample metadata, wet lab instrumentation outputs, metabolomics data, QC/QA, clinical data, and partner-supplied datasets.

  • Design unified data models that support clinical diagnostics, research pipelines, and real-world evidence initiatives.

  • Establish frameworks that support structured, unstructured, multi-omics, and longitudinal data.

2. High-Throughput, Regulated Pipelines

  • Architect production-ready pipelines for data ingestion, processing, transformation, and annotation compliant with CLIA, CAP, and industry standards.

  • Partner with lab operations to ensure complete traceability, reproducibility, and audit readiness from sample to report.

3. Clinical Diagnostic Data Infrastructure

  • Build systems that support clinical test ordering, LIMS integrations, EMR connectivity, results reporting, and longitudinal patient follow-up.

  • Ensure data integrity and analytical validation standards that support new assay launches and commercialization.

4. Biopharma Data Delivery & Insights

  • Create scalable pipelines for secure partner data exchange, modeling, analytics, and interactive delivery of insights.

  • Enable multi-cohort, multi-site harmonization.

5. Real-World Evidence (RWE) Strategy & Execution

  • Develop Olaris’ long-term RWE data strategy including data acquisition, curation, integration, and governance.

  • Build the systems needed to generate evidence for clinical utility, health-economic value, and payer engagement.

  • Partner with Liz to identify external data sources and relationships that accelerate evidence generation.

6. Data Governance, Security & Compliance

  • Establish best-in-class governance around PHI/PII, lab data integrity, access control, audit trails, and regulatory documentation.

  • Drive FAIR data principles across the company.

7. ML/AI Enablement

  • Create infrastructure that enables scalable model development, deployment, monitoring, and continuous learning.

  • Partner with data science to bring novel metabolomics-based ML models into production.

8. Team Leadership & Culture Building

  • Build and mentor a high-performing data engineering team as the company scales.

  • Promote a culture of scientific rigor, speed, transparency, curiosity, and operational excellence.

  • Operate with “builder energy”—hands-on, collaborative, and always optimizing for impact.

What You Bring

10+ years in data engineering or data architecture, with significant experience in regulated healthcare (diagnostics, biotech, clinical labs, digital health, or pharma).

Proven track record building data platforms from 0→1→scale.

Deep understanding of clinical data standards, lab systems (LIMS), and clinical validation workflows.

Experience with EPIC and EHR systems.

Experience with multi-omics or complex scientific data is a strong plus.

Expertise in cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS/GCP), modern data engineering stacks, orchestration, and pipeline observability.

Experience supporting RWE, HEOR, or evidence-generation programs is ideal.

Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset, able to work directly with Liz, scientists, engineers, and external partners.
